Removing glue from a wood floor with an access problem can be a little challenging. This fir floor is at the top of the stairs in an older home in Washington D.C. It was covered with black mastic glue. To remove this glue 16 grit sandpaper was used on a 220V drumsander. The access problem is that the family wanted access to the bedrooms while this floor was being restored. You can see in the second picture where the entire floor was sanded and a strip 5 boards wide was sealed. This allowed the family to step over this strip until it was completed. Once the strip was dry it became their "sidewalk" to walk on while the remainder of the floor was refinished.
