The floor was stained with Miniwax Red Mahogany Stain  This is a border I restored in the entryway of an old brownstone in Georgetown, Washington, DC.  The back left hand corner of this old white oak floor had to be totally restored. The wood came from disassembled old funiture.

This it the before picture of an old hemlock wide plank floor in upstate New York which was covered with black mastic  Wide hemlock flooring after being sanded.  An upstairs bedroom and hallway in a home in NE Washington DC prior to sanding  A strip 6 boards wide is sealed first following the cracks in the boards to maintain access to the bedrooms. This strip later becomes the sidewalk to access the bedrooms while the rest of the floor is sealed.
