Missing Money

Say three brothers go out of town and to a motel where the clerk says, " We have one room left but it'll cost you $30.00". OK , so they each ante up $10.00 for the night. After they left the counter the manager comes by and says, "Hey don't you remember there is a special tonight and it's only $25.00, not $30.00". So the clerk takes $5.00 out of the cash register and off he goes to the room. On the way however he thinks--- "Hey they don't know it's only $25.00, I'll just give them each one dollar back and keep $2.00 for my trouble." So he gives each man back one dollar and keeps two for himself. Here's the weird part: That means that each of the men paid $9.00 a piece for their night's stay ($10.00-$1.00) but the clerk only kept $2.00 for himself. If you take 9 and multiply it by 3 you get 27 : add the $2.00 the clerk kept and you get ($30.00??) No $29.00. What happened to the one dollar????
