Fir floors need help!
Hi Franklyn -
We spoke on the phone this afternoon. I have a few
photos of the floor here - gives a general sense of the condition. All the rooms
had linoleum area rugs way back when, leaving a variety of square
discolorations in the middle.
It's all tongue and groove fir, 3.5 inches. There's scattered overspray and mastic, and two defunct heat
registers that need to be covered over. I paced out the spaces I
would actually want to refinish - I think it comes to about 1200 sqft
plus a staircase.
I am thinking of putting one of the hardwax/oil type finishes on -
Osmo, Watco or WaterLox - I don't know if you have experience with
these types of products?
As far as color - none of the rooms have
threshholds so it all needs to be the same color - that color could
be anything - whatever is reasonably uniform is fine with us.
I need to get it all done between May 6th and May 16th. As far as my
contribution - I will be home all day, all week.
I have never refinished a floor before, but am moderately handy
- I just remodeled my kitchen and it came out fairly well.
