What's ITEX ?

ITEX is a barter system of doing business. Northwest Barter, ITEX Olympia WA explains a lot about how it works. Believe me when I tell you it works!

I have bought my van on ITEX, had it lettered with ITEX, had my shirts printed on ITEX, my business cards printed on ITEX, went to see the Stanley cup playoffs on ITEX, do all my advertising on ITEX, do all the Christmas shopping on ITEX, go on Vacation all paid with ITEX and eat at fine restaurants on ITEX.....and that's just a partial list.

I install, sand and refinish wood floors. When I do it with an member of ITEX I get paid in ITEX dollars. I can spend these ITEX dollars anyway I want with buying goods and services from other ITEX members.

There are several advantages of using ITEX dollars instead of US currency. First it's an easy sale. If someone wants to use ITEX dollars to use my services, in my area they have to come to me. It's kinda like being the only business that takes credit cards. Usually people who are ITEX members will look for businesses that accept ITEX dollars FIRST so these jobs are jobs I wouldn't see if I didn't take ITEX and jobs my competition CAN'T DO because they don't accept ITEX.

Secondly, my broker markets my business for me. She's Great and has lots of connections. I also do search engine optimization on ITEX. That's a fancy way of saying that I work with people who want to use search engines to DRIVE customers to their website and I accept ITEX for my services.

I got into the wood flooring business by accident. By that I mean I messed up a floor royally and when I asked for help I ended up working for and learning from the guy I asked for help. God surely has a great sense of humor.
