Before repairing a large register vent hole the hole was filled in with plywood and the wood was prepared for lacing the new wood into the old.

This is a little later in the repair. Tools included in this picture include a flooring nailer and mallet, circular saw, jig saw, carpenter hammers, chisels and pry bar.

This is the finished repair. The smaller vent hole to the left will be repaired next. An electrical outlet has been placed in the old vent hole to the right and the wood will be repaired to meet it.

The above repairs were done in an old schoolhouse wood floor in Colstrip MT. the school was built in the twenties and when the "new" school was built the old schoolhouse was converted into apartments for the teachers by putting in dividing walls and each room needed a heat register. I was involved in restoring the floor to it original condition (without the holes) The building is currently a museum
